So Album/Track Review:
Right, so I was going to review Adele’s new album.. but I think there might be something wrong with reviewing and album that technically isn’t out yet. So I move on to plan B, letting my itunes choose what album I’ll review. The lucky winner: Arctic Monkeys “Favorite Worst Nightmare”. Im actually really pleased my itunes decided to pick this... mainly because I haven’t listened to them in awhile and its like I’m rediscovering them.
The Arctic Monkeys have been around for a little bit, but I’m positive not a lot of people have really heard of them. They’re an alternative rock group straight out of Sheffield England; they’ve got the accents to prove it. They kind of remind me of a modern day Clash, it could just be the heavy accents though. No, thats exactly what it is. Their music isn’t really THAT similar.
“Favorite Worst Nightmare” is the bands second album and a pretty damn good one. Its got a gritty rock sound that meshes well with the exciting pace of songs. So not really Black Keys Gritty. You can’t really listen to this album idly. “Balaclava” and “Brainstorm” are really good examples of the pace of the album. Even though I do really like the album, now that I’m listening to it again it makes me a little anxious. It lacks one or a couple good songs that slow it down a bit and make me appreciate all the other fast paced and thrilling songs. I really enjoy the last song on the album titled “505” though. The majority of the song has calm and almost depressing demeanor to it. With lyrics like “But I crumble completely when you cry, It seems like once again you've had to greet me with goodbye” and “ A knife twists at the thought that I should fall short of the mark, Frightened by the bite though its no harsher than the bark” It's sort of a sad romanic song dealing with the troubles musicians can come into contact with. But sticking to the nature of the album it ends the song in a loud and upbeat manner. YAY 2 THUMBS UP!
